Maiden the Northwest
Whistler, BC. September 2002. We’re all sitting around our condo at the base of Whistler. The room is reeking of perspiration, rubber and mud. Bikes and gear fight us for the limited floor space. Discussions come and go like the jumps on Whistler’s A-Line trail. Ultimately, the conversation turns to the lack of a Northwest downhill team that shares our philosophy of racing. We believe in constantly challenging one’s self, celebrating the competitive spirit and encouraging personal growth. Talk takes a back seat to action. Ideas are penned on paper. Cell phones are picked up and contacts are made. Speed Metal Racing had just been born.
